Level 1 - Pitch a game!

How do you recognize a good Video Game?

The question I asked myself when working on my first assignment for the Projects I class. 

We had to design a game where we would teach something to out players, our first idea was to pitch a game about the Cartel Problem in the Border!!! quite a subject huh! specially since I'm Mexican and racism is always a good way to start! hahaha...

So we decided to teach people "how to survive in the jungle"!

Our idea was working smooth and nice, until we got told we had to work with such great Engine... Power Game Factory! Wuhuuu! So after clicking and clicking we figured out that the idea wouldn't work very nice in this engine so we had to modify it quite a bit, happens a lot (from what I've heard). 

My team is great, we have very creative people and we try to contribute as much as possible!

Since we already decided on the final idea, the characters and the basic structure of the gameplay we want, we are now working on specific assets for the game. At this point I'm working on the map and hopefully that will give us a bust so we can finish the basic prototype as soon as possible! (that way we'll have time to add fancy stuff!!!)

The path of the Game Designer!!!

My perspective about video-games have taken different points of view as I learn more about them but it's definite that the rumors about a monstrous industry and awful job experiences hasn't been enough to take me away from my path!

As most of the gamers I know (and most of my colleagues too), the more I play video-games the more I like them, but most important, the more I learn! There's much more than pixels and beautiful drawings behind a video-game, concepts like justice, balance & opportunity are what caught my attention since I started investigating about them. Hopefully through out this web pages you will read my learning and my experiences about Video Games!!!
